The 20th annual Davis Turkey Trot will take place on Saturday, Nov. 17, starting at the Civic Center Field on B Street and 7th Street.

The Davis Turkey Trot is an annual tradition for many Northern California runners, walkers and families and is one of the largest runs in the region with more than 4,500 athletes and 3,000 spectators.

Parents with young children are invited to participate in the 5K Baby Jogger Run. All runners/walkers in this division push their child(ren) in a baby jogger or stroller.

Runners, joggers and walkers, casual and competitive alike, can compete in the certified 5K and 10K run events. Walkers of all ages can enjoy the one-mile walk, and kids can participate in fun runs with 1/4-mile, 1/2-mile and 1-mile courses.

After reaching the finish line, all participants and spectators are invited to the sports expo, in which vendors offer food sampling, sports nutrition, apparel and other health-related products and samples. For kids 12 and under, sponsors have included a kids’ area, complete with fun jumps, interactive games such as golf putting, giant inflatable slide, arts and crafts, and face painting.

Did you know that the Explorit Science Center, 2801 2nd Street, in Davis is free to the public on the fourth Sunday of every month?

The current exhibition at the Jonsson Gallery, “Field to Fridge to Fork - Following Food,” runs through Feb. 18. The exhibition examines where our food comes from and what happens after we eat it. Visitors can journey from the farm to the table as they learn how food is grown, preserved and prepared, and how we get the energy to live and play by looking at healthful food choices and investigating the process of digestion.

The current exhibition at the Gumerlock Gallery, “Go with the Flow - From Delta to Sea,” runs through June 9 and invites visitors to explore the physics of floating and sinking, the biology of aquatic life forms, and the geology of streams and oceans.

For more information call (530) 756-0191 or visit the Web site at www.explorit.org.
