Parade participants and spectators are asked to park free in the Fourth and G parking garage for the event, as the parking in the Davis Food Co-op parking lot is limited, and walk to the Co-op for the parade line-up, or to the E Street Plaza.
The parade steps off at 6 p.m. and marches down G Street, goes west on Third Street, then south on E Street to the E Street Plaza.
Scheduled to join the parade are the Cal Aggie Band and leading off the parade, is Santa Claus on the city of Davis’ antique fire truck.
The holiday community tree and plaza lighting, sponsored by River City Bank, will take place at approximately 6:30 p.m., at the E Street Plaza. Prior to the tree lighting, Davis Children's Choir will perform on the stage at the plaza at 6:15 p.m.
Following the tree lighting ceremony, many activities will take place downtown, including two free showings of “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at the Varsity Theatre, 616 Second Street, at 7 and 8 p.m.; free carriage rides in front of the Varsity Theatre; musical entertainment; holiday open houses from downtown businesses; and non-alcoholic punch served in front of businesses by local non-profit organizations.
Santa will be at his mobile holiday house next to the Varsity Theatre at 616 Second Street from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., where he will visit with children. In case of rain, Santa will move to the porch of the Hunt-Boyer Mansion, located at 604 Second Street.
