Brendan is excited about “organic luxury,” the idea of distinctive items that are natural and tailored to the tastes of the individuals purchasing them. He describes organic luxury as being “about quality and design; minimalistic, and about the natural beauty of the flowers as well as creative presentation. Organic luxury is natural, real and fresh but different, taking inspiration from things like seashells in spring and cornhusks as centerpieces in fall.” This mandates a level of quality - small details like only glass containers and the best materials help assure. Organic luxury incorporates many facets of design, from tropical to traditional. Taking inspiration from the world around him, Brendan is tailoring organic luxury for Davis and the next generation of people who pop their heads in to Mengali’s or peer into the window.
Mengali’s employs from two to three salespersons, many of which are students in the UC Davis Department of Art.
